Solstice Song

Listen, today, for the sound of the song of the Solstice on this day of time and space and light and shadow, a betwixt and between time in every sense and a time when magic can be heard and done in the long day here and the long night there, depending on where in the world you are.

Humanity stands poised between a past of deep and hard learning about the frailties of man and a future where the lessons are done and we reap the reward of all our hard work.  The present, now, is a reflection of the challenges of the one and the promise of the other, and it is up to each of us as to how we see this precious time – with trust and optimism or with fear and resistance: remember, our environment and condition of being are a mirror for our state of mind and heart.

They are a mirror, too, for our gifts and skills and sense of service, and a wise disciple uses them not for personal gain but altruistically, to help others, passing on her knowledge gladly or developing his strengths to benefit the occupants of the Planet as best she can: the giving out and sharing is the route to true abundance, while doing otherwise brings poverty of soul.

Balancing the negative through the positive negates the former, just as balancing dark with light causes the dark to be gone.  

The Solstice is about polarisation, and we can observe, today, this being demonstrated as the Planet as we know her is threatened by human action just as she shows herself ever more beautiful; as politics is riven by different forms of extremism at the expense of moderation; as power-hungry countries use mind control to subdue their people while hailing their democratic internationalism; as artificial intelligence and the internet exert their own controls and mind games on a willing people as loving communication that they have replaced dies.  

It does not have to be this way.  The choice is between mind or heart, compassion or intolerance, giving or grasping, honouring or disempowering, taking or ceding responsibility, turning a blind eye or seeing the truth, doing what is right or only what you want.  

Today it is the Solstice, and with its song comes another opportunity for us to do better, to ponder, to learn and to share and to change.  It is a perfect day to sing our thanks for the wonder of the gift of Earth and the constant flow of blessings from Gaia.  It begins with you and me, and ends with all of us.
