Wasps and Butterflies showing the Future

Listening to a new year programme when "experts" predicted how this new year would be in terms of economics, politics, foreign affairs and so on, I was startled by the complacency of the assumptions that any changes or developments would be directed by the decisions of world leaders. Nowhere in this serious and carefully argued discussion was there reference to the possibility of the unexpected bringing change, let alone its impact. In view of recent history, to ignore the evidence of the supremacy of nature is optimistic, to say the least. Tsunamis, floods, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes....we have experienced the power of the elements since Earth began, but the last few years have been extraordinary for unforgettable messages from Gaia. I have said before that the more humanity disregards the importance of maintaining the ecological balance of the Planet, the more we will be reminded, forcibly, of our role and duty as guardians of the smallest but most precious fellow-travellers as well as the biggest or loudest, or most greedy. Watch for the signs and honour them even if at the time you do not fully understand what Nature is telling you. Paying attention is enough. Yesterday I heard of a butterfly and a wasp making their presence known, simultaneously, in a cottage in the village where I live: it is January when insects are dormant, but two creatures of the summer awoke and reminded their finders, through their symbolism, of metamorphosis, transformation, rebirth and Spirit. That is what 2013 is all about. Watch for the signs of nature and when they come to you, as they will, notice and honour them for they are gifts sent just for you. Large signs, small signs - nature speaks, and wishes to be heard, by you.  ]]>
