The desire for wealth, and what it brings, has led to a ruthless seizure of excessive riches at the expense of the Planet and the poor. It has exacerbated separation between the haves and the have-nots, and has engendered an attitude of racial, societal and religious superiority in those people who have the money and the power, and who choose to misuse it.

Money drives crime also. How many people, I wonder, think about the huge gains that derive from the illicit trade in arms, in drugs, and in sex, involving a large, secret network of the criminal and the powerful? What is being done to stop it? If it were addressed as one of the most serious issues affecting our world by all leaders and law enforcers, it could be done, but the will is not there because too many influencers benefit from the criminal activities that ruin the lives of millions.
Politicians speak of the scourge of ISIL, but ISIL exists and survives through the provision of arms and immorally –acquired money by politicians and kings who go unchallenged. ISIL will thrive and grow while this supply line continues. Too many of the powerful gain from the misery of others for it to stop, and this will continue until enough world leaders confront the truth and commit to changing a perverted, embedded imbalance in global society.
There is hope, however, that as we wait for sense and decency to come to the fore, a rebalancing will come about naturally. Not only is it likely that unexpected and drastic changes to the world economic system will alter the patterns of wealth drastically, but also the growing shift in human consciousness will force new attitudes about what is acceptable or not by way of human behaviour. Sex, drugs and other money-rock and roll will be in the past, and mourned only by those who have lost what, in fact, they never had.
