The new cycle of the new moon is upon us, and with it storms and turbulence.
This morning I stood outside being buffeted by winds so strong I could hardly stand, but above me birds soared and swooped joyfully enjoying the experience, tumbling on the waves of air as if they were cushions, allowing the gusts to help them on their flight, moving with the currents rather than fighting them. They were in acceptance of the conditions in which they found themselves, co-operating with the stormy conditions and allowing them to be of help.It has caused me to reflect on how we react to storms in our lives, and how far we are able to see them as blessings, or at least to accept them realistically for what they are without judgment. If we look at our world now there is turbulence and unrest all around us, and not just in the Middle East. Many of the people with whom I work are facing challenge as they stand at a major crossroads in their life with change beckoning. It takes courage and trust to walk forward and embrace that change particularly since we may not know where the path will take us; but by so doing, and not being in resistance, we are co-operating with our divine purpose and the Plan of God.
Just as the birds face their storms without fear, we can do so also by knowing that life, whether in you or in Egypt or anywhere else, is about adventure and change and that both are wonderful and for a reason, whatever transitional pain and distress there may be, if we allow them so to be.
