She has issued a call for soul-searching for many of us, and you may have been asked to confront your hardest human lessons not just in the last lunar cycle but in the last three months. It has been a time of extremes, particularly of emotion, and some people have talked of great inner struggle while others have talked of a stream of joy within.
The Moon is in the sun sign of Virgo now and it is no coincidence that, esoterically, this astrological symbol represents the human goal of union of Spirit with matter: it is what we are on Earth to achieve individually and collectively, and Virgo's influence is another reminder of our choices to do with duality and our relationship with God, and also with ourselves. When we are at peace with ourselves we are in that place of one-ness, and have earned the prize of peace of mind, heart and soul - whatever storms may be raging outside.
This coming Full Moon is a particularly feminine Full Moon, governed as she is by the darkness, mystery and mysticism of Virgo, the Maiden. It is about the illusion that precedes reality, the secrets waiting to be revealed, the power behind the throne, seeds waiting to germinate, and the maturing of the planet and humanity. Look around the world now and see how apposite this symbolism is. It is also about development and change, the steady advance towards a cherished goal through experience, learning, challenge and the use and misuse of power. It can involve crises of doubt and fear to be replaced by trust and certainty. Look around the world now and see how truly this applies.
Virgo is the sign, too, which epitomises the eighth month in a nine month cycle, the time when the birth is close, tangible but not quite imminent, when there is discomfort and physical challenge, and when there is a sense of anticipation and the knowledge that most of what was necessary has been achieved. All there is to be done now is to be ready and to wait as best we can for what is to come. Look around the world now and see – how ready is the world?
As the climax of this full moon approaches, this place of Wales where I live is calm, though cool today. Three fox cubs were playing in the garden when I rose, and otherwise the land slept. It waits, too, as do I: so many adventures yet to come.
