Endings and Beginnings for Margaret Thatcher

The Bishop of London spoke eloquently, and in his statement, in the context of her death, that a beginning is an end and an ending is a new beginning, he came close to acknowledging that after death life goes on. He talked of her "remains" and how in dying she had done what comes to us all regardless of rank or achievement, and it is true that while the memory of her will endure, the body and personality that were the vehicles for her soul, this time around, are nothing: we come into life with nothing and leave it the same way whoever we are - except for a soul with vastly more experience. For all of us including Margaret Thatcher, the new beginning which comes from our death has a pattern of similarity but also its own individuality: there is the joyful return of the soul to the planes of spiritual existence and learning and a review of all that has been achieved in that wonderful life on Earth; there is a time of healing before the preparations for the next incarnation begin; and there are decisions about the future path which will differ for every soul. Where you are, who is with you and what you do will depend upon you, uniquely, and it will be both constructive and balm for the soul. It is likely that the soul of Lady Thatcher, as often happens, has stayed close to her family and friends as they mourned in the days after her death, and that she watched the funeral from her place in the world of Spirit: I believe she would have been pleased by the honouring of her memory and the grace with which it was done. Now it is over she can focus on what lies ahead, forgetting what has gone before - one good soul among many, no better nor worse than you but, like you, with much to look forward to and, certainly, more work to do. Wherever she chooses to go, I wish her soul very well on its steady onward journey. 1. What you said was both eloquent and simple, Claire. Thank you.
In 1987 while still living in Scotland, I sent PM Thatcher a note of congratulation upon her re-election. One day, after coming home from work I found an envelope from 10 Downing Street in my West Ballochy, County Angus post box. There was the feel of a very strong personality attached to it. When I opened it, it turned out to be a note from the PM with her signature affixed, thanking me for my comments to her. It was definitely NOT robosigned.

    1. Thank you, William. I have heard from others of the personal interaction they had with Margaret Thatcher, her care and quiet kindness. She was a remarkable combination of qualities, many so admirable though not all. What a lovely story you tell.
