Global Warming: no Time for Complacency

While it is true that, for now, there is evidence of a mild stabilisation of temperatures, no- one, not even the Met Office, is denying that they are nonetheless increasing to such an extent that by the end of the century they will have grown by 2 to 4 per cent, enough to cause major damage and many environmental problems. It is good that new technical competences are able more precisely to analyse and assess data to enable readjustment, but to interpret them narrowly and to report them loosely can only bring misunderstanding about a subject which deserves to be treated with the greatest seriousness. What, here, is being ignored is that the balance of energy and ecology is more important than rising temperatures, for it is that balance which dictates global warming. Global warming is the end product of a long sequence of events starting with the use and misuse of energy, and it would be such a pity if a headline statement were to create a belief that there is nothing to be concerned about. Look at the present "catastrophic" fires in Australia, unprecedented and devastating: extremes of weather such as this are caused by solar activity and planetary imbalance, and by karma, in all of which humanity has a part to play. The future depends on us, and while climate change is, now, inevitable, its degree will be directed by the actions and wisdom of man.
