I have been impressed by the stories some of those who share my path have told me about what has happened since the year turned. One has experienced potentially devastating fire and flood in their home in a night; another has discovered that two loved ones are dying imminently just as a third family member was killed by strangers last week; for yet another their body died and to the amazement of the doctors they have returned to health. Extremes of experience are occurring to many people, often uncomfortable but always for a reason.
In order for us to participate fully in the transition to the era of the New Consciousness, we must clear outstanding karma as much as possible, and this is what 2013 is all about. For some the karma applies to relationships whereby difficult decisions must be confronted; for others it is to do with money, or attachments, about stripping away the protective but illusory facades with which we have surrounded ourselves for lifetimes. It is about ego and about fear, about choice and understanding, about healing and release.
Someone wrote to me today, rather sadly, that they had been taught that if we fall at the hurdle of challenge (I am paraphrasing) there is no chance in this lifetime of trying again, we must wait for the next incarnation to progress. This is not true, though once perhaps it was: in my reply I reminded her that in every moment we have the opportunity of growing the light of our soul, and if we choose in one moment to go backwards down the ladder of life, in the next we can soar to unremembered heights.
That is the wonder of today, that the chance to clear our karma or drop the ego forever is not given to us grudgingly or sparingly, it is a constant gift from Spirit. If we are slow to see this or forget, God smiles and loves and understands while extending the hand of choice to change at all times. We choose the nature and degree of the challenge, and the harder the experience the greater the karmic reward. And then it becomes easy......particularly so in this special year.

thank you for your words Claire, again and again reminding us that all is well...even when it's distressing or plain awful!
I want to share a poem by Rumi (translated by Coleman Barks) that is sustaining me in this time:
When you do things from your soul,
you feel a river moving in you, a joy.
When actions come from another place
the feeling disappears.
Don't let others lead you. They may be blind,
or worse, vultures. Reach for the rope
of God. And what is that?
Putting aside self-will.
Thank you so much, Mia. Rumi's words are perfect for these times.
