It is so easily forgotten that our every act, word or even thought results in something commensurate with what you have done, so a kind deed will bring a loving gift to you, while your anger will cause anger to be vented on you. It is clear there was much negativity between the ambitious politician and his brilliant economist wife: their story includes revenge, deception, lies, hatred, infidelity, unkindness, ruthlessness, hurting, and coldness, most of which have been experienced as well as imposed by each of them from and on the other. The result, today, is that the lies have been exposed and the law is taking its revenge in a way that is direct and humiliating, painful and possibly ruinous to them. It is karma in action.
We do not know, but it seems likely that these two protagonists and the others who were drawn into the web of deceit regret bitterly all the strands they weaved, and would like to re-write this page of their history. It was far more than issues to do with a speeding ticket or a marital breakdown, it was about them as people learning harsh lessons to do with compassion, dignity and respect as well as integrity. It is for them to choose how far to practise these karmic learnings, but what is certain is that, if they do not heed them, the lessons will be repeated even more emphatically until they do. And that applies to us all.
