When you speak your words are in the past, and when you walk each step you take is a dying memory as you start another. You die all the time as the present becomes completion, and a new cycle, however momentary, begins anew. Your life is in the Now and your death is in the past which is why dwelling in the past is so useless and living every reborn moment in full awareness is so wonderful: in the one you are asleep and in the other you are awake, fully awake and complete. Honour this process of constant death and rebirth in you and see it with wonder too as that which does not serve you dies to you.
And what about the future? To live live there in your mind and your dreams can be escapism or an opportunity to embed yourself in fear; either way it kills the moments of present-awareness as if you step upon a plant newly emerging from the earth, extinguishing it before it has had its moment of new life. To look ahead and make plans - of course - but do it with detachment or your emotions will kill your clarity of understanding.
The greatest place both of constancy and rebirth is that aspect of nothingness which is the Void, where God resides; it is where you go in deep meditation or spiritual communication and it is the place of bliss. Go there from time to time: it is balm for your soul there, for there it can regenerate in its natural Home, helping its human vehicle in its challenge to live life to the full, and in the Now. Together you are everything, apart you are lost.]]>
