The Dark of the Moon is like the minutes when we slip into unconsciousness before the oblivion of sleep, or when a soul is starting the long journey back to its source; it is the silence which precedes a clap of thunder, or a frozen night in mid-winter as the earth patiently awaits the warmth of the Sun. Although our life goes on, time stops for the three days in the month when the Moon is invisible, and this Dark of the Moon is not just an astrological fact but an instrument of influence on our psyche: it is when we may venture into the most hidden part of who we are and see our truth, gaze, perhaps, at what is unlovely within us and recognise with kindness our fears and frailties, the shadow side of us; we may review our life at this time, and gain inspiration also.
We are not alone in the Dark of the Moon, however solitary it may seem. The Moon herself is a creature of mystery and magic, wisdom and introspection, and the Goddess Moon, her soul, walks the Earth in her Dark to renew the world of nature and to help those in need in the human world. It is a wonderful, hidden time from which we emerge enlightened and ready for all that lies ahead. Move forward with purpose, today, as light from Sun and Moon bathe you, but do not forget what has been, to bring you to this point of being.
