The Olympics, and the Power of Thought

September 10, 2012,

In my writings and teachings I try always to speak my spiritual truth in a way that is positive, validating, sometimes provocative and perhaps inspiring: my fundamental belief is that all life experience is for a reason and for the higher good however painful it may be in the moment, and that there is nothing to fear. Human life is all about choice, and the choices we make direct our future in all worldly matters, significant or otherwise, and we have seen this demonstrated in the London Olympics and the Paralympics. Being psychic, sometimes I have a strong sense of what may lie ahead - though recognising always that the future is never certain - and for many months beforehand I saw the possibility of the Olympic season of 2012 being overshadowed by accident, incident or difficulty; I did not say so in the wish not to create unnecessary concern over something that might not happen, and, of course, all was well. I am sure that the reason why the summer proved to be one of untroubled celebration and national pride was because, from the time of the magnificent Opening Ceremony, there was a united wave of support for and pleasure in a British achievement that was recognised throughout the world. The people of Britain came together in a way that has not been experienced for generations: it was true community spirit at work, and the thoughts and attitudes of a nation created a magical time of light and love when even the weather - predicted to be terrible - responded in kind. Thankfully we will never know what might have occurred if there had been scepticism and disinterest instead, but the experience of how it was gives us much food for thought. Imagine how it would be if the courtesy, kindness, happiness, wish to help, and professionalism were to be a natural, constant way of life in us all. Think how different politics, religion, sport, the media, and our personal lives would be. It does not have to stop with the ending of the Olympics and Paralympics, but it all depends on how you think and feel and act. If the power of thought can create a national harmony such as we have known, there is every reason to use it to create our own inner harmony too.]]>
