It is a strange feeling for me to be writing what is likely to be my last blog before Christmas. The December Solstice and Christmas itself epitomise the end of the year far more than the symbolism of New Year's Eve, perhaps because - again speaking only for myself - they have more spiritual resonance.
Today's Christmas Eve has enhanced my sense of prevailing mysticism because the moon begins its new cycle of beginnings in a few hours' time, for those living in Europe, and according to the wisdom of esoteric astrology it is governed by Capricorn. Capricorn brings us the opportunity to replace worldly aspirations to do with material possessions and self-centred desires with spiritual ambition and a growing desire for spiritual freedom from the constraining illusions of our human world. It is about moving from third dimensional values and goals to an overwhelming and irresistible desire to be of service and to do our service, whatever that may be.While this is a day and a time of preparation and preoccupation with the celebrations of Christmas, it is a perfect day also to remember, albeit briefly, the deeper meaning of this New Moon coinciding as it does, with this time of spiritual ending. My next spiritual blog will be written when Christmas is a memory, in that betwixt and between time between Christmas and New Year: until then, I wish you so very, very well for all that lies ahead for you over the coming days, and always, and wish you God speed on your unique, beautiful, spiritual journey.
