Nothing is impossible, of course, but some ultimately triumphant participants and teams believed otherwise beforehand, and many others failed to win a medal at all because they were convinced of it. Their fear dictated the outcome however good they were. For the winners, prowess was essential, but without a certain approach to life to underpin their strength, success could have eluded them even if, technically, they were the best in the world. [caption id="attachment_3213" align="alignright" width="398"]Usain Bolt Rio Usain Bolt in Rio 2016[/caption] Much has been said about training techniques, financial investment in national sport and so on as the reasons for the remarkable of achievements of people like Usain Bolt, Mo Farah and Michael Phelps, but over and above their clear athletic superiority, the key to their greatness lies hidden within them; even they may not know what they did to beat all records in a way that may never be repeated. While most of us lack the ability or inclination to be a world class athlete, all of us have an innate ability that is unique to us and most special. It may be you do not know about it, or you believe it is impossible to move out of the rut in which you find yourself in order to sparkle with a love of life and a feeling of total fulfilment. This is not so, as the great Olympians have proved in Rio this month. To reach your place of grace, it is important to know who you are and what you want. What is the dream? It is far more than money and success, it  is finding that special gift which is you, and using it, however hard or risky it may seem. You must be focused on the goal and not on the process of achieving it, and in a detached way that allows for slip-ups occasionally, and not minding. Fear does not exist, or it is dismissed if it arises. Your core values must be clear to you, and you must live by them at all times; the purer your intent, the purer will be your success. Above all, love life, love people, and have a sense of humour. Just as you were awed by the achievements in Rio, let others be awed by you.  They may not see a world-class athlete, but they will see the light of your truth, the light of your soul when you live by these precepts. Everything is possible, for you.   [byline]]]>
