While the news media has chosen to focus on the British budget today along with football, it was heartening to hear prominence being given to research which is to be undertaken to explore why bees are in decline and what to do about it. For years, government spending in this area has been reducing as the subject has been dismissed as not important, and so, at this time of fiscal austerity, it is especially encouraging that some monies have been found.
If you see a bee, of whatever sort, do please take a moment to thank it and to honour it. It is crucial for our survival, but perfect also in its own right.
