Different Worlds

We watch the world through veiled eyes…..

We have different worlds, you and I; we have the personal world of our creation and we have a shared world that we may think we have in common, but which in fact is experienced through the prism of our uniquely personal life and soul journey. Even within your family, your child or your partner perceives a different reality about any joint occurrences from you, while your observance of American politics, for example, may be very different from mine. Neither is wrong, and often neither is right as we watch the world through veiled eyes clouded by the illusion of being human. Usually, as Christmas approaches, I feel a growing sense of union within our global community as the anticipation of a period of spiritual thankfulness and temporal celebration becomes stronger: this year is different, and I am conscious more than ever before of many separate worlds functioning in their own dimensional reality, far apart from each other even if they are peopled by men and women who are, seemingly, closely connected. It is not deliberate or wrong - indeed, there is a sense of urgency about our need to separate into an intensely personal bubble in order to see and work on the karmic demands of this lifetime. It may be done knowingly or unconsciously, but each of us is being challenged in the deepest way possible, and we must do it on our own, in the world we have made. You know, as you buy presents and make your shopping list, as you issue invitations and prepare for a special time, whatever your faith, that beneath the tradition and community intent, you are alone with something profound to achieve, for yourself, for your soul, and for Spirit. No-one else can know how you feel, what you are and what it is except God, for you are in a different world, a world that is only yours, but one that is so very important. God knows.     [byline]]]>

  1. Hello, Claire! 🙂
What you’ve said in your blog post actually begs the issue of what reality is, and the American psychologist and philosopher addresses it in his own inimitable style, mainly with two papers and under the rubric of radical empirical philosophy:
    1. 1904a: Does Consciousness Exist?
    2. A World of pure experience.
For further details, please see his Essays in Radical Empiricismn, which is available as an Amazon Kindle ebook. Just beware that one of his essays is entirely in French (La notion de conscience).
Basically Dr. (M.D.) James’ radical empiricism is its own explication of Spirit. Moreover, what he states in the first two papers above basically within Bohm’s ontology of quantum physics: when the latter’s term ‘wave functions’ is substituted for Dr. James’ ‘stream of thought’, it makes jolly good sense.
    Happy Christmas! 🙂
