2012, this great year of great change, is continuing to expose scientific, religious and mythical inaccuracies from Higgs Boson to a new Mayan Calendar for the future to this, the life of Jesus, and there is much more to come. The discovery of seemingly authentic ancient papyrus with writing referring to his wife and her status as his disciple is a reminder of how early (male) Christians twisted the facts about Jesus's beliefs and teachings to substantiate their position on the role of women in the Church and in the world, leading to a deliberate disempowerment of women which exists still. If it had been otherwise, priests would not be celibate and male in the Catholic Church, and the Anglican Church would be without its present misogyny, and both would be much healthier for it. Jesus's wife was, of course, Mary Magdalene, the woman who was his key disciple and who sat at his right hand at the Last Supper. It was she who with Mother Mary and Mary Jacob took the true teachings of her husband and kept them alive as she travelled through France for many years, knowledge based on the ancient wisdoms and which forms the New Consciousness to come; in her, as in Jesus, came together the divine masculine and the divine feminine and the manifestation of their example of true spiritual balance and unconditional love lies at the heart of our spiritual purpose. It was the fear of the power of the feminine and a desire for control which caused the men of the Church to exclude women and to intercede between the people and their God. After two thousand years of this insistent demonstration of male authority, the time has come for the example of Mary Magdalene, and Jesus, to live again. Already the protests from the Church at the claims for this tiny scrap of Egyptian paper have begun, but they are vented as we see the collapse of the authority of the Church of Rome and the deepening schisms among Christians elsewhere. What interesting times we live in, do we not?]]>

  1. The dating of this fragment (circa 4th/5th century C.E.) places it within the time frame of the Nag Hammadi Library (http://www.gnosis.org/naghamm/nhl.html), which was also written in Coptic on papyrus. Discovered by a camel driver in Nag Hammadi, Egypt, in 1947, these papyri point, in a broad sense, to the high regard in which the feminine was held in early Christianity. Both the masculine and feminine aspects of the self were recognised, for instance, in the Gnostic Christian text, The Thunder: Perfect Mind (http://www.gnosis.org/naghamm/thunder.html).
As for the denial being played out, it reads like the opening passage of the Nag Hammadi text, The Hypostasis of the Archons [The Reality of the Authorities] (http://www.gnosis.org/naghamm/hypostas.html):
On account of the reality of the authorities, (inspired) by the spirit of the father of truth, the great apostle - referring to the "authorities of the darkness" - told us that "our contest is not against flesh and blood; rather, the authorities of the universe and the spirits of wickedness." I have sent this (to you) because you inquire about the reality of the authorities.
Their chief is blind; because of his power and his ignorance and his arrogance he said, with his power, "It is I who am God; there is none apart from me." When he said this, he sinned against the entirety. And this speech got up to incorruptibility; then there was a voice that came forth from incorruptibility, saying, "You are mistaken, Samael" - which is, "god of the blind."
His thoughts became blind. And, having expelled his power - that is, the blasphemy he had spoken - he pursued it down to chaos and the abyss, his mother, at the instigation of Pistis Sophia. And she established each of his offspring in conformity with its power - after the pattern of the realms that are above, for by starting from the invisible world the visible world was invented.
As incorruptibility looked down into the region of the waters, her image appeared in the waters; and the authorities of the darkness became enamored of her. But they could not lay hold of that image, which had appeared to them in the waters, because of their weakness - since beings that merely possess a soul cannot lay hold of those that possess a spirit - for they were from below, while it was from above. This is the reason why "incorruptibility looked down into the region (etc.)": so that, by the father's will, she might bring the entirety into union with the light. . . .
[From then on, the story of Adam and Eve gets re-cast in a different light compared to what is found in the Book of Genesis.]
Whether it be in science, the Church of Rome or politics, when it becomes clear at least in part that a concept or notion is not unlike a house built upon sand, there is much wailing and gnashing of teeth as the sand gets eroded by repeated challenges and questions about their veracity. The false eventually falls away, while what is true is like the house built on bedrock: when the winds and rains come, the bedrock is not as easily eroded as sand and the house's foundation holds firm in the face of the onslaught.
Spirit is the bedrock here. Even as one may need to wail and gnash teeth from time to time, one need not worry about the house falling into the sea, in ruins. Science, the Church of Rome, etc., have a lot of catching up to do with spirit, as they are indeed behaving like Samael, the god of the blind, in the face of such a revelation on such a small piece of papyrus.
