In the busy-ness of our everyday lives it is easy to forget that we create karma for ourselves in every moment, through what we do, say, think or feel. Anything that is well-intended creates positive karma which is permanent and can never be undone; it creates light upon the soul, and our main purpose in life is to increase the light of our soul. If we have an unkind thought, gossip, judge, shout at our partner or feel sorry for ourselves then a shadow falls upon the part of us which is spirit. Fortunately, when we are able to see this and do something about it, even if it is just acknowledging to ourselves that it could have been better done, then that shadow is transformed into light and our consciousness is expanded.
Awareness of instant karma and of its significance is the most important tool we have to transform our lives, if we choose to use it. If we find ourselves doing something that does not come from a place of good intent, then it will rebound upon us and teach us a hard lesson. We see this clearly exemplified now as a number of celebrities in the UK are struggling to keep unflattering aspects of their private life secret through legal injunctions and super-injunctions: the more they fight to hide the truth the more the press and public are defying the law to ensure it is revealed.
For one footballer at the centre of attention now, to have endured the revelation of an affair when it was first discovered by the press would have been a brief headline story for a short time before it was forgotten, but his attempts to use his wealth and the courts to protect himself have made him a laughing stock worldwide. The story is big news every day still as his attempts to sue Twitter users and editors backfires spectacularly and his identity is known by millions. Even I know!
He and others like him are showing us, marvellously, about the importance of behaving with integrity as far as we can always and, if we let ourselves down, of putting it right as soon as and as best we can. Truth will out especially in this era of transparency, and the gifts of instant karma will ensure it does.
