An American psychic wrote recently about the differences in the passage of time between humans and the Planet. He said that (for now) the life span of an individual is limited normally to about 100 years, and our linear time reflects that. However, time for a planet like Earth is much, much slower, because it lives for millions of years, and as a result a volcanic eruption or an earthquake, for example, would in normal circumstances have long periods of time separating their occurrences.
The point he was making is that Earth wishes us to experience and know everything possible about it in our human existence, and so, to help us, is demonstrating what is possible by way of dramatic events of nature much more quickly than would occur normally. It is speeding up time.
I found this a very helpful concept, reinforcing my belief that all "catastrophes" are for a reason and to assist our human journey. When I hear of a flood or fire in future, I will try to remember the gift of experience, direct or indirect, that it is, even while my heart goes out to those who suffer from it.
