I hear, yesterday, the mother of the nine year old girl who died speaking of what happened. Only hours after losing her daughter, she spoke gently of how this was a tragedy for everybody including the young man who had caused her loss, of her hope that these events might result in greater awareness and help for those who were mentally disturbed, and of her gratitude for the blessing of the nine wonderful years she had shared with her beautiful child. There was no blame, no anger, no thought for herself, just compassion and acceptance, and great dignity.
