Syria and WMD: not the time for wringing of hands

The world watched as Syrian leaders amassed an arsenal of the most modern and sophisticated non-conventional arms, weapons of mass destruction, and did nothing. It is interesting that, similarly in a way, no-one asked questions about the amassing of large quantities of corrupt money in Cypriot banks either until it caused a problem, and so it is with Syria. Now, as I write, the large storage depots there are under siege from Jihadist terrorists intent on seizing the weapons for their own purposes, and the Syrian government is, seemingly, beginning to use them against their own people in their fear they will lose control of them if they do not use them. There is intent and desire to use some of the nastiest of arms to hurt, and from whomever it comes, it is sad that man has come to this. World leaders and indeed each of us are here to be good stewards of the planet not to destroy it, to be wise not careless, to be aware and not blind. Current events show how far we are falling short of what is possible, but always there is the opportunity to do better. However serious, worrying the situation may be - such as we watch now in Syria and Cyprus - through commitment and focus and unity of effort it can be changed. It is not the time for wringing of hands but for clarity and action, and you and I, believe me, have a part to play in this too. 1. It sometimes is all quite too much when these kind of things happen...I really wonder where some of us are going and wether people really do take time to think of the implications. I find war really frightening & my mother often speaks of how once experienced you dont forget it. she never has......

    1. Thank you. Yes, because for many people war is unknown and unreal, they do not understand how devastating it is. One day the true understanding will stop it ever happening, anywhere.
