The British Isles are small in terms of land mass, and so it is extraordinary sometimes how different one part is from another. I live in the West, and as I write there is bright, bright sunshine, blue skies, and warrmth. Having had heavy snow for three days, overnight it is gone and daffodils have raised their still-green heads to join the snowdrops and crocuses which have been here for a while. A green woodpecker is yaffling in the trees opposite, and the little song birds are exploring for new territory and new nesting sites.
Meanwhile, not so far away in the north there is such heavy snow that there are avalanches, and towns and villages are cut off, with more blizzards on their way. Highland deer, which are used to such conditions, are perishing after months of starvation. Spring must seem very far off and the winter endless.
It is a time of extreme and sudden change and contrast, and this applies to us too. It may be that you find the cyces in your life, both external and internal, alter unexpectedly and rapidly. You may find you are on a bit of an emotional roller-coaster, and that unforeseen challenges (or opportunities?) confront you, to be dealt with NOW. If this happens, try if you can not to be overly disconcerted but recognise it for what it is, a reflection of the changing world, the changing energies and the changing you.
Of course, some people more than others will be affected in this way, and if you are on a plateau of calm and tranquillity, it does not mean you are insensitive! Everyone feels change differently - and have no doubt that everyone is going through change, everyone, without exception. If you are one of those people for whom, from time to time, the changes are tricky, please don't dismiss their effects as beng just nothing, or try to blot them out. Instead, face them, don't analyse too much, but embrace them, let your feelings and fears dissolve into your heart and accept them for what they are.
Emotion is an important part of being human, and our ability to express, accept and move through our emotions is what sets us apart from other planetary beings in the solar system and beyond. How well we learn these lessons, what we do with them, is a greater cosmic teaching tool than we can, for now, possibly comprehend. As you struggle to do your best, hear the applause from near and far, and take a bow.
