The Mayan Calendar completes itself today, marking the end of an era of great longevity. Today, symbolically, is hugely significant.
From today we enter the realms of the unknown: the Mayans were not saying the world will end but indicating instead that we are entering a new era that will be totally different from anything that has gone before. Other seers such as the Aztecs and Hopis have foretold this unfamiliar epoch too, one that is so important everything will alter but in ways that no-one could predict. It is here.
It is time that human certainty, assumption and complacency was over-ridden by a fresh approach to life and indeed to the spirituality which underpins all that we are. It is time the old values based on wealth and competition, self-centredness and isolationism, pretence and often cruelty were driven out by a new sense of inclusiveness and kindness. It is time for change.
On this special day, observe the world around us and notice how the edifices which have supported the last era, of 265000 years, are crumbling. Change is here, and the more we accept it and allow it, the more we embrace the unknown ahead of us with a sense of purpose and adventure, then the easier it will be for the new era to come, triumphantly, into being. Give thanks to the Mayans for reminding us, and give thanks to Spirit for your place on Earth at this special time.
