Silence is in your head and your heart, not only beyond the ears that hear. Whatever the noise of life around you, there is silence in its centre, a silence that is vocal in its call to you, to notice. At times, the silence may overwhelm all other sounds so that you feel you are deaf to human speech and people who do not hear what you do, look at you strangely. They miss so much.
Silence is filled with energy; the energies that are accumulating for Wednesday’s Solstice and the remembering of the Christmas story, and for other spiritual festivals at this time, strengthen the silence and touch all of us with a message of hope and trust in what is to come. Listen to your inner silence and hear the soundless words of love and reassurance, the words of your soul and of Spirit and the essence of you.
It is through silence that your spiritual growth will come. The more you question your soul’s progress through seeking and chasing, asking for validation and monitoring the signs of evolution, the more your mind is separating you from God, the Great Creator, the Source. It is about being, not doing, about feeling not thinking. It is about forgetting who you are, and the best way to do this is through being in the silence – through being the silence.
The most powerful prayers are given wordlessly in silence, for without the barriers of words and thoughts God hears you perfectly. Merging with the silence is merging with God. What is more wonderful, more joy-giving, than that?
As you read my modest words, take a moment, now, to hear your silence, and to feel the quickening of contact and the expansion of your heart. You do not need to ask or speak, just be. Special times lie ahead in this final month of 2016 and next year, and the calls to honour silence will be loud. Forget yourself, become the silence, become the Source, become the truth. This is Heaven on Earth.
