2014, the Year of Truth

2013 was witness to so many extremes of experience: great suffering in Syria and South Sudan, among many places in crisis resulting from inhumane political desperation; the public assassination of a randomly chosen soldier on the streets of London in revenge for the deaths of Muslim soldiers; the death of Nelson Mandela, the epitome of what is best in humanity, and the appointment of a new Pope who has done more to change the Catholic Church, for the good, in a few months than anyone for centuries; the US has been wracked by political brinkmanship, and debacles over the shutdown, Obamacare and, of course, Edward Snowden; and political weakness has been all too visible in scandals on Congress and in the mayoralty of Toronto. We have witnessed the best and the worst in people, we have seen the supremacy of the elements, and, perhaps, have had our own extremes of feeling and experience. As the year, conventionally, begins now, it is the opportunity to decide what of the old year we wish to take forward into the new one, and how many of our lifetime tests we wish to repeat in 2014 or if we are ready to declare that they are passed, and done, releasing us to start a new, unknown cycle of newness based on inner knowledge, and truth. 2014 is to be a year of information and a new certainty whereby the polarisation of before changes to unequivocal reality: while there may continue to be denial of the new consciousness and a grasping to retain the status quo of old, a universal clarity will highlight what is wrong and what is right, what is illusion, what is truth, and, most of all, what is loving conduct – the new foundation for our world. Part of the polarisation of 2013 has been the passivity of the masses compared with the power and often arrogance of those men and women who act in our name and on our behalf, but so often with distorted motivation. 2014 is the year when the masses – including you, and me – say no to everything that is not based on the core truth, which is love.
