Chaos continues to reign as six men and women, today, work to renovate my home, but it is ordered chaos.
There is a timeless feel to it as, day by day, the same faces appear and I provide hot drinks and cake for them four times a day, always at the same time. We have no hot water or heating except our woodburner and again it feels as if it has been that way forever. There is comfort in its routine and familarity, but particularly in the intrinsic integrity of each one of our building team. It almost does not matter that their work is of the highest quality I have known: what I notice is their courtesy, commitment and also their humour. They are a pleasure to have in my home.I have learned from experience never to settle for second best if it is possible. I have waited many months for this team, and they are here at the perfect time for me and, hopefully, for them. Unless it is unavoidable there is no point in choosing to have people in my home or my life whose energy is incompatible with mine, for it will not serve me, at any level - and this applies to you, too. Quality, whether of soul or expertise, does not have to be unaffordable or unachievable.
Their first week of being here is drawing to a close, and I will appreciate some time to myself over this coming weekend, but I will welcome the return of the team on Monday. They are creating change and beauty with the best of hearts.
