Gaia’s Tipping Point

There is an arrogance in so much of the human world as we decide how Earth – and beyond - should be: we think we know what the temperature should be, what the climate should be, how it should look, how nature should be, and how Earth must be changed to best serve mankind.  In so doing we are treating her like a passive commodity without intelligence or feelings, and this is a great mistake.

When the abuse of her being becomes unbearable Gaia will go through a period of intense cleansing and purification using wildfires, floods and earth movement to detoxify and regenerate.  She will be assisted by great solar and cosmic activity which will activate dormant forces and sweep away the debris we have littered on her lands.  Nothing we have built, whether it is a data centre, a wind farm or a town is permanent.

It will mark the end of one civilisation and the start of another, and the wellbeing of humanity in these great events will be a low priority.  In every sense it will be a new beginning, and one that wise ones welcome.

Gaia has her tipping point and she is good about telling us how close it is, but so few people pay attention inwardly focused as they are.  The signs and messages are all around us as ocean currents change direction and the magnetic poles shift significantly, and as the sixth mass extinction of nature becomes visible. 

What have we done to our planetary home?

These are sobering thoughts, but while we have been poor guardians of Earth there is also an inevitability about eras coming and going.  Each one before has been marked by a degree of spiritual or materialistic character, and where we are now is our nadir, the pendulum of human life at its lowest point.  Our challenge is to resist the call to anger and wanting that is ubiquitous now, but to do all we can to welcome the peace and caring which will be the hallmarks of what is to come through our thoughts and actions, helping Gaia and helping our human and nature community.

The signs of Gaia’s growing dominance will become stronger in the next few months, and it is no coincidence that resistance to her empowerment is increasingly visible as the Ukraine conflict becomes more bitter and the political world order is transformed.  Resistance, however, is futile.  Earth with the hand of God upon her is all-mighty.

The future is uncertain.  What is without doubt is that what is to come is a blessing and a learning, and soon, our blindness gone, we will be able to see - at last.
