Hawking on God and Philosophy

Stephen Hawking’s recent comments about creation, the existence of God and the death of philosophy has aroused much interest, and it is good that controversial views have been expressed that  challenge accepted thinking and cause us to look again at our own beliefs with an open mind.

For me, God is a word to describe the totality of all that is, at every level and every dimension. It is something higher than me but of which I am a part and which is a part of me. Since everything has a beginning it has a creation, and I am a part of it too. Nothing ends, it only changes form, and the infinity of limitlessness in everything includes universes, dimensions and me.

Scientific theories come and go, sometimes disproving as well as developing what has gone before. The universal wisdoms,however, are proven and timeless, as applicable today to each time they have been expressed since man was seeded on Earth. A scientific theory will not change my life, but understanding and practising the spiritual laws will, and it is because their importance is so great that I have given them prominence on my website.

Just as a key purpose of this new cycle is to achieve the integration of the spiritual with the human in each of us to bring about the ending of duality, so one day, not so far away now, we will see a merger of science and philosophy in a way which will be phenomenal. It will result in a new understanding of spirituality based on fact, and the nature of science itself will be transformed. From this, spirituality in human practice will become universal - and duality will at last be finished.

So, for me, philosophy is not dead and “God” is everywhere. What a fitting subject for this new moon today.
