Music in Outer Space

At the time, in 1969, they were close to the moon, but on its far, dark side and out of contact with mission control; audio files and transcripts released much later indicate both that the incident occurred, and that the Apollo 10 astronauts were amazed and disturbed by what they heard, talking about the incident among themselves many times when it happened. Interestingly, on their return to Earth, they did not mention it publicly, possibly because they feared mockery, and indeed some scientists say the strange sounds were nothing more than radio interference - though an astronaut from Apollo 15, Al Worden, disagrees with this theory, claiming “there was something there”. Apart from the evidence of the recording, there is no proof either way. It is a pity that the innate and often arrogant scepticism of most humans along with the actions of peddlers of occult fakery and false rumour have created disbelief to the point of scorn in the idea that other life exists around and beyond us, and in the suggestion that it is commendable to be open to mystery. Even religion, sometimes, is narrow-minded and inflexible about the possibility of reincarnation, for example, the existence of UFOs or the wisdom that is in the stars. As Hamlet said, “There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than is dreamt of in your philosophy” - a statement that refers both to the divided nature of humanity in its everyday world, and the extraordinary, amazing multidimensional worlds that lie within and beyond us. We know so little, though we think we are masters of our universe.   We are complacent, when awe would serve us better. Look with eyes and ears into the skies on a dark night and you too may hear the music of the cosmos - and the loving laughter of the gods as they watch our self-importance and our unwillingness to let go, accept, and see.
