The Goddess of Balance and Justice

The Goddess of Justice is calling to be heard.

Every full moon is a blessing of completion and learning, and always appropriate to the condition of man at that time.

I wrote recently, at the September Equinox, about the importance of balance; the theme continues still with a new cycle of ending initiated by this latest full moon of October, on Sunday, which is all about balance, overshadowed as it is by the astrological (sun) sign of Libra.  You could call it polarisation too, where so much around us is poles apart, a different approach to the concept of balance but one that is valid too.

The qualities engendered by Libra or indeed any of the influential signs for each month can be challenging and what we experience through their energies, combined with those of the moon, can be negative as well as positive, but always offering us the chance to learn and grow – and it may not be comfortable.  The sign at this week’s full moon is unequivocally demanding, with little scope for error, procrastination or ambivalence.

Libra, Goddess of Balance, is calling to be heard.

She is the Goddess of Justice too, and it is no coincidence that in this month that is her month there is so much temporal focus on what is right and wrong, on legalities and ethics as legal matters dominate debate in the UK and the USA, and in Europe in the arguments over Brexit, constitutions, rebellions and impeachment.  Whatever legal decisions are made, however the law is applied or mis-applied, the Goddess will judge and apply the Law of Karma accordingly.

You and I are not exempt from her discerning gaze, and to be conscious of the rightness of our thoughts and actions would serve us well at this time.  Every deed matters, whether it is breaking a speed limit, keeping a coin someone has dropped, telling a lie or killing a boy and running away.  She will see and judge in her Court of Karma in which we are ever-present, and our spiritual record will be altered according to her always-fair adjudication.

The days ahead of the moon full and then waning are our challenge and opportunity to prove ourselves to her, to begin to redress the imbalances which shout out to be addressed in our lives, and to live according to the Universal Laws which are her laws, and the law of the land.  Many will choose to ignore her encouragement to do so, and the learnings and repercussions thereby will be made all the harder.

Watch in the time of this new lunar full moon cycle, and see how well you hear and heed the call of Libra:  what and how you do now in this era of schism and change may change the course of your life and soul journey and affect many others far beyond you.  The keynote here, perhaps, is in behaving always with integrity – the heart of true justice and a loving humanity.

  1. G'day, Claire! 🙂
It would seem that an excellent metaphor is contained in one of my jokes about Donald Trump from last week. It goes something like this:
Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi, U.S. Congressman Adam Schiff and climate change activist Greta Thunberg are all in the White House' Oval Office and blocking egress from underneath the desk there. They are all holding pitchforks.
Donald Trump is cowering under his desk.
'No pain, no gain!' is what Pelosi, Schiff and Thunberg are shouting at him.
There are indeed times when it is wise to have a Russian sense of humour and know how to tell an anekdot (Russian for 'funny story'). Dealing with karma coming into balance is one of those times.
    Best,
    William
