Websites: keeping calm under fire

All I can say this morning is, Phew! It has been a busy twenty four hours in which my new website has been born, and you should, all being well, be looking at it as you read my Thought for Today now unless you are in Twitter or Facebook -in which case, do have a look.

Harry Adams of CMS Wales has done a brilliant job in building it, and if anyone would like me to link them to him to discuss their own website needs I would be very happy to do this. I hope you like the look and feel of it. Do let me know if you have any comments or thoughts about it. A newsletter will be coming out in the next few days to those who have subscribed to it (you can do so here on the Home Page) giving information about what we are doing and what is coming up, and I hope this will be the start of a new and exciting era. In fact, how can it be otherwise, for you as well as for me?

Harry and I worked together, remotely, until late last night trying to migrate and set up the new e-mail accounts which was the final stage of the moving from the old system to the new. It should have been easy, but it wasn't, and it was only after several hours of checking and changing that we realised that the problem was not with what we were doing but was because, remarkably, the BT Internet line in my area only was not working. Hopefully any e-mails that were in transit at the time will have reached me this morning, but if you wrote and have not received a reply within twenty four hours, then do please re-send your message, just in case.

Last night's experience battling with technology could have been stressful but it wasn't, partly because I knew Harry has great experience but also because I did my best not to think about the "what-ifs" and to stay focused on what was happening in the moment. My belief that everything happens for a reason even if we don't always understand why helped too. At the end of the evening, when the issues were unresolved still, I took some deep breaths, accepted the situation for what it was and went to bed.  And today all is well, in every way.
