The plundering of Gaia’s resources to support consumerism continues.

I try always to remain objective about world events, but I am human just as you are, and I was saddened today to hear that Japanese scientists have discovered substantial “rare earth” deposits in deep water under the sea bed of the Pacific. The area is in international waters and so acrimonious arguments over ownership and drilling rights are inevitable, as is the potential damage to an area of great environmental significance.

The prize is a supply of scarce minerals which are needed to make the must-have sophisticated technological gadgets like i-phones, i-pads and plasma TVs. What can I say? Except, remember Atlantis.
