While Perseverance is a man-made programmed robot, already she has a personality and life of her own: she is strong, brave, fearless, disciplined, and some of the excitement of Thursday’s landing was for her in her own right as well as for the team that created her. When the Beagle lander was lost on Mars in a failed mission in 2003, scientists cried; when the Rosetta spacecraft crashed intentionally in 2016 after 12 faithful and faultless years of studying a comet, her final dying transmission was heart-breaking to hear, and the world listened sadly.
Despite many other missions to the Red Planet before, Perseverence is famous already, and dear to the hearts of many as even now, lonely but resolute, she is transmitting images and preparing to explore for signs of life on Mars on our behalf, our messenger and representative. I feel great gratitude to those who enabled the project and her, for there is much to discover that will change our view both about Mars and also about our past and our future.
It is the time for some of the secrets of the Universe to be revealed. The Mars mission may raise questions we cannot scientifically answer, and indicate impossibilities that can only be explained, for now, through spiritual understanding. I look forward to the months and years of coming discovery very much.
It is no coincidence that Mars is gaining our attention just as our own planet Earth is changing, moving from being grounded in her third-dimensional body as she shifts into her higher soul self and prepares for sacred status. Mars has reached this special state already, and the life that is there is invisible to human eye but rich with spirit and the best energies of the First Ray.
Perseverence and Mars remind us that life is in everything and that Spirit is in all life, whether it is an amalgamation of metals or barren rock. Whatever we see is alive and evolving, and lives forever.
