Through such rhythmic annual festivals we are reminded of endings and beginnings in perfect harmony, balancing each other out to achieve a new equilibrium at this time of a time that is out of balance as it accommodates the acceleration of a changing world. Peace balances anger, water tempers fire, and sacrifice is rewarded. These are special moments and it is important to remember them, despite the uncertainties of an unsettled world.
Fittingly, at this time of Easter initiation, Passover, and lunar completion, once again a fire burns on the mountains opposite my home, consuming old bracken and other dying vegetation and covering the skies with grey fog. Even though it is creating sad damage, the fire is serving to prepare the ground for new life. Simultaneously, water cascades upon parts of burnt, parched Australia in torrents and a long-dormant volcano spews fiery lava in Iceland. The Elements are speaking, promising change and renewal.
Similar to our burned, wet, drought-stricken lands, Easter too is about endings and beginnings, and death and resurrection. It is about spiritual transformation, whereby, in our Easter story, a cycle of soul learning and achievement came to a finale that was filled with suffering, but which in reality was a gift to humanity and a reward to the Master Jesus, the focus of these great events, who underwent his last major initiation on the Cross. The great Teacher had completed what he came to do, and so was able to move on.
Like the mountains beyond my Welsh valley, across which He walked and where he studied in His mystery years, Jesus experienced his own chosen fire of purification, but for him it was in order to overcome the ultimate human challenge of achieving mental perfection. He knew that when the mind vibrates to the highest aspect of Spirit, the individual is the embodiment of the divine, and is filled with the light and the colours of God. This is what Jesus became, and this will be your state too one day, whatever your religious persuasion.
Soon the mountain fires around me will burn out, the clouds of ash and grey colour will disperse to leave the clear, pure air and skies that help to make this place of wild nature so special. Our Planet is very beautiful: Earth suffers to remind us of the treasures around us, and recovers, ultimately stronger from the experience, and ever more precious each time.
Nature, unlike humanity, is not affected by the plague of emotional doubts and fears that hold us in our mental prison, particularly now, and which our soul longs to relinquish in order to find spiritual freedom. She is divine, mentally free, and has been this way always: unlike most of us, her pure perfection shines out like a beacon. She is the great survivor, and will live on far beyond our human race. She understands the meaning of balance, of life and of death.
Like nature, the clearer, the brighter our hue, whatever the shade of our skin, the closer we are to our spiritual and human pinnacle. It applies to us all, including the great teachers and great events of the past.
At this time of the Easter Full Moon, if you think about its meaning, you may wish to reflect upon the deeper significance of the story of Jesus, and how he transformed his mental body for it to vibrate with the highest aspect of Spirit according to the colour of His soul. This is your challenge too, and to remember the prize that results from moving into this new state of high consciousness and into mental freedom may encourage you to persevere with your innate spiritual quest for enlightenment – and for pure, perfect colour, in balance always with your soul and your Spirit.
