As the Equinox approaches, the time of true and total balance, the paradox of choice between confusion and clarity is stark. This is our betwixt and between time where we sit between weeds and flowers, reality and illusion. The hard part is recognising what is the weed and what is not, for all weeds are precious in their own way, just as the most alluring flower can be deadly.
This Equinox is empowered by occurring just as Mercury is halfway through its retrograde cycle, and the New Moon comes into being two days later. All the aspects of the last lunar cycle are heightened in this charged astrological time with an explosion of energy which tells us much about the world of light and of shadow as it is manifesting now, a world of deadly weeds and healing herbs, each of which can be reversed to be beneficial or harmful, or both: the poison of hemlock can protect as well as kill, while the sap of the renowned healing comfrey plant can blind you. At this time of Mercury Retrograde, nothing in our human world is as it seems.
While the funeral of the late Queen marked the end of a time of history and of emotion, the impact of the ancient rituals of regal transition, played out very publicly, is being felt still in dreams and memories. Her death created much light - in her story, her images, and the collective outpouring of love and respect in the honouring of her. Separately and secretly the agents of the shadow, undercover, used the time of national mourning to plan and prepare their own agenda for change, much of which involves the reinforcement of political power through revolutionary legislative change and the continuation of restrictions to personal freedom by law. The revolution may seem to be well-intentioned, but it is not unconditionally altruistic.
Instead, politically, despite the promise to deregulate, there is an emphasis on money and authority, and it is remarkable how the new Truss government is making decisions with profound implications for the well-being and prosperity every British citizen and the world of nature without, seemingly, consultation or consensus from those who were elected to represent the citizens. That time will come.
Just as the poisonous weed can reverse itself to be the healing plant, the Light can for the good of all sometimes go undercover too: as politicians accrue power to themselves and change the values of an ancient democracy, in so doing they under-estimate the astuteness and the tolerance of the people they are elected to serve. Already, underground, groups are forming through social media and otherwise online to take action to protect what they hold dear, particularly in regard to the environment which is gravely threatened by the renewed pursuit of profit over kindness, and in regard to liberty. The resistance that is inevitable will be strong and may result in change that is truly radical, and welcome to many.
This Equinox is a time of balance indeed, where the scales of justice sit with the heavy might of the institutions of tradition on one side and the feathers of truth and light and change on the other. They do not know it but the former is creating the latter, and through its desires the old is destroying itself, to become a shadow of its former self. It is change in action, and what seems to be an abuse of power is, in reality, a blessing in disguise. Truth and right will prevail, always, for they are the Light.

Thank you, Claire, for presenting such an interesting and unsettling subject. These polarities are so very hard to come to grips with. I am putting this very basically to say, it feels as if we are in the midst of a battle between good and evil. Though we are evolving, or attempting to, at the same time "the agents of the shadow" appear also to be growing in their power. But, as you explain so gracefully, their very darkness will be their demise. And so we will continue to use the herbs only for their healing and trust that all will be well.
Again, thank you for such an elegant explanation and, as always, the compassionate reassurance.
Thank you, dear Rita, for your considered and wise reply. Though I am concerned by what I see, it makes me all the more trusting that the will to good is stronger than anything.
I hope your world is as filled with light and healing as it can be.
