"
the triumph of light…….
"
This weekend’s new moon coincides with Diwali, the Festival of Lights, each in their own way celebrating the return of light to the world.  Each is symbolic of new beginnings and the triumph of light over darkness, timely reminders of hope and truth in an uncertain world.

Diwali, this year, may lack its customary large gatherings, feasts and fireworks, replaced by more private expression of gratitude for blessings to come, but however it is marked, its significance will be all the greater because of the need to remember what is good now and to come, in this extraordinary year of sometimes bleak separation.

November is proving to be a month of some hopeful signs, in the promise of new vaccines and a new American President, seemingly improving economies and a sense of optimism that “normal life” will return before too long.  There is an accepting resignation of this temporary new strange life in many people, though anger and denial remain strong in others.  Above all, the majority care – about those who are ill, who grieve, who are lonely or who suffer, and as we care for ourselves, we need to give this care actively and consciously.  Our light is dimmed otherwise.

Some of the new optimism may fade a little as we approach the Solstice in December and a major astrological conjunction between Jupiter and Saturn, the first for 20 years and the closest since 1623.  It will remind us that winter is coming as we witness old forms dying and new growth taking shape and the experience may be uncomfortable.  The ebullience of Jupiter will be challenged by sombre Saturn, and Saturn may prove stronger as he reminds humanity of its ageless karma, offering us the chance to expiate it once and for all.  As part of this, complacency about traditional economics, politics and social structures could be overturned by the unexpected.  Take nothing for granted.

The changes that approach, at their heart, are about truth and personal as well as collective responsibility, and we will be reminded increasingly about both.  We must not judge others for the ills around us without seeing our part in the state of the world as it is now, and how we react to the tests will help either to anchor the new world order or perpetuate the disorder.  The clearer we are in ourselves in honesty and in realism, the more we can give: once again, it is all about our light as we speak our truth in peace.  Whatever is happening around us, the light is always to be found.

At this weekend of lunar new beginnings and the celebration of lights, whatever faith you follow you may wish to light a candle or a lamp to remember the light within and without you, and to see the light you have created go around the globe and far beyond, lighting the way for many and much that is to come.
